OHSAS 18001 provides a framework for the management of Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities to be more effective and integrated with all business objectives.

BASIC DEFINITIONS
Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
Conditions and factors affecting the status of employees, temporary workers, subcontractors, visitors or anyone at the workplace
OH&S Management System
Management system that initiates management related to OH&S risks in relation to the organization's business.This includes the organizational structure, planned activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources related to the development, implementation and maintenance of the organization's OH&S policy.
Performance
Measurable results of the OHS management system associated with the control of health and safety risks, based on the organization's OHS policies and objectives.
Accident
Adverse event that leads to death, illness, injury and damage.
Danger
Potential situation or source that causes damage to death, Illness, Injury, health deterioration, property damage, workplace damage.
Hazard Identification
The process where the hazard is found and its properties are defined
Incident
The event that causes an accident or potentially leads to an accident. (An event that does not damage health, does not cause damage or any loss is called Near Miss)
Risk
Combination of probability of occurrence and consequences of a dangerous event
Security
Not being at risk of unacceptable harm
Bearable Risk
Risk reduced to the level that the organization can tolerate according to legal obligations and its own OHS policy.
Unsuitability
Deviation from business standards, practices, laws, management system performance that directly or indirectly causes injury, illness, damage, damage to the workplace

RISK ASSESSMENT
Five main stages in the risk assessment process:
Stage 1 - Look for the Dangers
Stage 2 - Decide who might be harmed
Stage 3 - Evaluate the risks and decide whether the existing measures are sufficient and whether better measures are needed.
Step 4 - Save the findings
Stage 5 - Review the assessment, revise if necessary
